She Broke Up With Her Boyfriend Of 10 Years After He Tried To Propose To Her During Her Best Friend’s Wedding
Have you ever been to a wedding where a guest decided to propose to their partner during the reception?
A woman recently broke up with her boyfriend of ten years because he proposed to her in the middle of her best friend’s wedding even though she and the bride told him not to.
She and her best friend, Amy, are in their late 30s and have known each other since elementary school. She considers Amy more like her sister than her friend, and they always have each other’s backs.
While completing her master’s degree a few years ago, she met her boyfriend, Danny, who is five years younger than her. She was his tutor, and he had the bravery to ask her out. They went on to date for 10 years.
Danny has an older brother named Bobby, who she introduced to Amy a few years into her relationship with Danny. The two of them hit it off and dated for a few years before Bobby asked Amy to marry him.
Because she and Amy are so close, she was asked to be her Maid of Honor and worked very hard with the rest of the bridal party to plan the perfect wedding.
In the middle of wedding planning, Danny had the idea of proposing to her during the reception on Bobby and Amy’s wedding day.
“Bobby [approved], but both Amy and I immediately shut it down,” she recalled.
“I told Danny I found that kind of thing tacky. A person’s wedding is a special day for them, and tainting it by stealing their attention was just wrong.”

She and Amy figured Danny and Bobby had accepted their wishes and dropped the proposal idea. That is, until it was time for everyone to make speeches at Amy and Bobby’s wedding reception.
On the night of the wedding, after a beautiful ceremony, Bobby stood up and said their big day was about to become more special thanks to his brother’s “announcement.”
Then, in front of everyone, Danny dropped to one knee and pulled out an engagement ring box.
Before she could process what was happening, Amy ran out of the reception area, crying. She quickly yelled at Danny, telling him he was a jerk, and ran to follow Amy.
At first, Amy was mad at her, thinking she approved Danny’s proposal behind her back, but when she explained she had no idea it was happening, they hugged, made up, and hid out the rest of the night in Amy’s bridal suite.
“We found out later that Bobby gave Danny permission without speaking to Amy about it,” she explained.
“I called Danny that night to tell him we were through, and I wanted him out of my apartment by the end of the week.”
Since the wedding fiasco, Danny has been blowing up her phone, and some of their mutual friends have told her she was wrong to end a 10-year relationship over this.
Amy even decided to annul her new marriage to Bobby, as she felt she couldn’t trust him anymore after what he did.
Danny’s friends sent her messages, telling her he only wanted to prove how much he loved her.
Still, she thought what happened was ridiculous, considering he knew how important Amy’s wedding was to her and how much she disliked the idea of a public proposal that would take away from the entire thing.
But, after getting so many angry messages, she’s wondering if she overreacted by breaking up with Danny.
