Essentially, Tacky Christmas is all about piling colored lights and mismatched ornaments on your tree instead of doing something that’s more sleek and modern.
So, you don’t stick to a set color palette of blues and silvers or golds and greens – you just go for any or every colored ornament your heart desires. There is no theme; there’s just whimsy.
Taking to the comments section, many people agreed that Tacky Christmas is not the nicest term for, well, nostalgia.
“Like you mean your Christmas trees don’t have the ornaments you made 17 years ago in preschool…?” one person asked.
“The paper chain link garland is truly my childhood…can’t believe it’s “tacky,” another person commented.
“I believe the CORRECT term is “nostalgic Christmas”…don’t let them make you feel bad,” someone else chimed in.
