Six months later, he put himself back out there and began dating. He then went to law school, which he’s about to finish, by the way.
He never heard from Megan again. But in May, he was out walking in Hyde Park when he ran into Megan.
As soon as he caught sight of her, he was amazed by how gorgeous she still is. Her hair was dyed back to her natural brunette color, and her clothing was different than how she used to dress when they were dating.
He felt drawn to her, and so he walked right up to her. Megan asked if they could get coffee and catch up, so that’s what they did.
They spent two hours chatting, and while he went into it hoping they could be friends, by the time they were done with their coffee, he was madly in love with her.
As they talked about anything and everything, Megan removed her gloves, and it was then that he noticed she was wearing an engagement ring.
“She told me she met someone in America, nine months in,” he said. “They’d been together a year before he proposed. A year? She’d always sworn she needed to be with someone for two minimum.”
“I asked her about him she said, “He’s nice and he listens to me, he makes me happy.” He’s nice? Chocolate is nice? A dog is nice; you just described the qualities of a dog.”
“We parted ways. I unblocked her, and she unblocked me. We still have many mutual friends, so once we let them know we were back on good terms, everyone started getting along much better, and she and I hung out. This started in May – it’s October. I am in love with her. I’ve tried to stop. I’ve tried to get with other women. Sure, it works, and I care for them far too little than seems appropriate. I just want her.”
He’s gotten to meet Megan’s fiancé, Mark, and the guy is full of himself. When Megan is present, Mark is on his best behavior.
