“It’s not like I buried my head in the sand and said, “This is great.”

He truly thought his wife was his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a love that was so great. Five months ago, they went on vacation to St. Lucia, and it was incredible.

He’s never felt so in love with his wife, but he noticed she was spending a ton of time texting one of her coworkers.

It upset him so much because when he and his wife are spending quality time together, they stay off their devices and get rid of distractions.

After returning home from their trip, his wife hung out with her coworker one day and spent an inordinate amount of time with them. It was then that he knew something more had to be going on between them.

“I confronted her, and she swore up and down that nothing was going on—they were just friends,” he said.

“I couldn’t let it go (bloodhound mode and all). I told her I wanted to see their texts, which is beyond rare for us. I do my best to give her space and privacy. Her face went ghost-white, and she said, “You’re going to find something.”

“Well, I did. That coworker and she were having an emotional affair (or so she says), spicy pics and all. This led to a lot of anguish, and she stayed with a friend for a few nights.”

He cried when his wife left, and he sent her some nasty text messages, too, but he was in turmoil. Here he was, thinking they had an idyllic marriage, and she was out getting frisky with her coworker.

Finally, his wife came home, and they had an open discussion about where things went wrong and how they would commit to fixing their marriage so nothing like this would happen to them in the future.

His wife began going to therapy, and everything evened out in a way that surprised him and made him feel good.
