That’s why his parents asked if he could either take them in or pay some of their bills.

Well, he didn’t hesitate to make it clear that since his parents ignored one of the most important days of his life, his wedding, he felt no obligation to be there for them now.

“I explained that while I do feel some sympathy for their situation, their past actions have shown me that they don’t truly care about me or my happiness,” he revealed.

If you couldn’t have guessed, his parents berated him over this, calling him ungrateful and selfish. Thankfully, his wife had his back, but the rest of his relatives are all treating him like the bad guy.

They think that his parents are still his parents, no matter how they have treated him.

“And I’m torn, as I feel guilty but also believe I have the right to set boundaries,” he vented.

This has pushed him to wonder whether not helping his parents because they skipped his wedding is justified or truly makes him a jerk.

Would you also be incredibly hurt if you were in his shoes? Should he be expected to help his parents or not?
