Her boyfriend spoke to this girl from the plane for two days before she became aware of their exchanges and demanded to see what he was saying to her.
This girl appeared to be flirting with her boyfriend in the messages, even asking if he wanted to fly home with her, but her boyfriend maintained he was only trying to be friends with her and nothing more.
She made it clear to her boyfriend that she was uneasy with them remaining in contact, and she felt that it was a good time to talk about her boundaries.
It’s been three months since this all happened, but she can’t get over it. It bothers her that her boyfriend didn’t think to set some boundaries with this girl from the plane after she took a nap on his shoulder.
She feels it wasn’t right that he chose to be friends with this girl after that, and she’s upset that he even asked to see videos and photos of her trip when they were no longer on the plane.
“It doesn’t help that I went on this girl’s social media and [found] that all she posts about is hopeless romantic posts, and knowing she had space to romanticize my partner WHILE I’m in a relationship with him triggers me, although it’s not entirely in his control,” she added.
When she saw the messages between her boyfriend and this girl, they totaled around 100 screenshots, so the frequency with which they communicated was uncomfortable to her.
She knows many girls would dump their boyfriends on the spot if they found out they gave their numbers out to another girl.
She didn’t, as she wanted to forgive him and move on. That’s easier said than done since she can’t just get over the girl from the plane.
She’s not worried about her boyfriend doing the same thing in the future, but she can’t get past how rude she feels her boyfriend was being.
“I can see how, to him, this was a mistake, and he has since then changed and learned, and he may deserve grace from the new unprecedented discoveries of our boundaries as a couple,” she continued.
