Whenever he’s attempted to talk about her hurtful statements later in the day, she just makes excuses, too. For instance, “I was sleepy and out of it. What do you want me to do?”
Well, this last Friday, he finally hit his breaking point. He began waking Jess up as normal, and as she walked past him to head to the bathroom, she started dramatically gagging. Next, she claimed that he really smelled bad and told him to take a shower.
“I had already taken a shower and always keep good hygiene,” he said.
So, that Friday evening, he told Jess that he was finished waking her up every day. He was sick of her morning tantrums, insults, and “stupid facial expressions.”
“I told her that I’m not moving a finger to make sure she gets up for work on time. She was naturally upset about this, but I said she could wake herself up,” he explained.
Come Monday morning, Jess failed to do that. She overslept and was actually over an hour late to work. She’d also already been written up for two other issues while still on probation at her job, so she was automatically fired.
That’s why, around 12:00 p.m., he received a livid phone call from his girlfriend, screaming at him for getting her fired. On top of that, once he arrived home that night, she freaked out on him even more and demanded that he hand over half of his salary until she was able to find a better job.
“I feel like making her go cold turkey on waking up might have been too sudden, and apparently, she really liked the job she had,” he admitted.
“Should I have at least tried to wake her up?”
Is it his girlfriend’s responsibility to make sure she’s awake and on time for work? Should he have to give her half of his paycheck now? What would you do?
