He and his wife found out that they were actually having twins, and he wanted to scream. Julie, on the other hand, appeared “thrilled.”
Following the appointment, they went back to the car, and Julie pointed out how he looked like he was going to start crying.
“I expressed that I’m terrified and I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to manage four kids. Three was already a stretch, and doubling the amount of children is very overwhelming,” he recalled.
Afterward, he admitted to feeling like he should leave his job to find a position that’s less time-consuming. Yet, he doesn’t want to feel like a failure who can’t provide the life he’d always envisioned giving his kids.
“I basically am in a position where I feel like I need to choose between making sure my kids are financially solid or having close relationships with each of them,” he revealed.
Julie told him that they’d figure it out together, and he claimed to need some time to process the whole situation. However, his wife wouldn’t stop trying to talk it through with him, and she even asked if he was at least a little excited.
At that moment, he snapped and replied, “No.” This made his wife tear up, accuse him of being a jerk, and ask how he could not be excited about their babies.
His wife stated that she was overwhelmed, too, and upset that he hadn’t even asked how she felt about the news.
To him, though, Julie was always the one who wanted to grow their family and had no concerns about having a third child. This is precisely why he didn’t think she’d be overwhelmed at the prospect of twins.
Regardless, his wife began crying and has been keeping her distance from him ever since the appointment.
He realizes in hindsight that he was harsh, and he’s attempted to apologize for that.
