Instead of being interested in that, his ex admitted that she was no longer attracted to him due to his amputation and requested a divorce.
“I asked if there was another man, and she said no, but I didn’t believe her,” he said. “I asked to see her phone, and after some back-and-forth, she gave it to me.”
“I found out that she had been heavily communicating with a family friend of my ex in-laws. They were going on dates and expressing feelings for each other. She told me they hadn’t been physical, but I was done at that point. I didn’t want to save the marriage.”
“We told family and friends that we were getting divorced. Only family knew about the emotional affair, and there was a lot of backlash against her. She said she couldn’t control her feelings.”
The divorce was pretty simple. His wife purchased his share of their home, and he moved in with his brother and his brother’s wife.
The custody issue was a bit difficult since he’s disabled, but his family and friends stepped in to help him out, and ever since, he gets his son for a week, and then his son goes to his ex for a week.
This all leads us to now: his ex is married to that man she had an emotional affair with, and they tied the knot a year ago.
A month and a half back, his son finally approached him, wanting to know why he got divorced from his mom.
“Before that, I had always dodged the question by saying that sometimes adults just can’t be together,” he continued.
“But this time, my niece (his cousin) told him the real reason, and he wanted confirmation. I don’t know how she knew, but I didn’t want to lie to my son, so I confirmed that it was true.”
“Four days later, my ex called me crying, asking why I told our son. I explained that it wasn’t me—it was his cousin, and I only confirmed it. I told her that I didn’t want to lie to him. She said he was rebelling against her and his stepdad, saying a lot of hurtful things because of me. My son loves his mom and stepdad, so this was completely extreme.”
