She Unknowingly Named Her Daughter After Her Dad’s Affair Partner From 10 Years Ago, And Her Dad Is Begging Her To Change It

Her mom had forgiven her dad for the infidelity in the past, but even hearing that name seriously soured her mood, so much so that her mom couldn’t even talk to her dad after her daughter was born.

Anyway, once she learned the truth from her sister, her dad wound up going over to her house, too. Plus, he asked if she would potentially change her daughter’s name.

“I asked why to see if he’d tell me the truth, and he did. He admitted to the affair,” she recalled.

“He begged mom not to leave him, and she stayed, but just hearing that name always put her in a bad headspace.”

Unfortunately, though, she couldn’t just change her daughter’s name, and she tried to tell her father why. Annabelle was supposedly her husband’s grandmother’s name, and the woman helped raise her husband throughout childhood. That’s why they chose the name in the first place, to honor his grandmother.

Regardless, her dad wouldn’t stop trying to change her mind, saying that her mom was in the midst of packing her bags and going to stay elsewhere over this.

“But I told him I won’t change her name and that it means so much to me and my husband,” she said.

This infuriated her dad, who proceeded to scream at her. Thankfully, her sister stepped in and told him to get out of her house. Emily also assured her that she shouldn’t have to stress out about the mess her dad was responsible for creating. In the wake of all this drama, she still doesn’t want to change her baby’s name or believe that’s fair.

“But I feel like this is tearing the family apart. What should I do?” she asked.

Does she deserve to keep the baby name she selected? Or is it more important to save her parents’ relationship? Would switching the name even reverse that damage now?
