“I realize this is a toxic cycle, and I often say things out of frustration that I don’t mean,” she said.
“He’s told me that in order for our relationship to last, I need to be willing to stay with him, even if my parents don’t approve.”
“I’m scared of losing him, but at the same time, I’m terrified of what my parents will think and the pressure to leave him if they don’t approve.”
While her boyfriend has not forced her to choose, he has mentioned that perhaps he can help her win her parents over, but that’s not going to be a reality.
She’s left wondering who, or what, she should pick: her boyfriend or her mom and dad’s approval.
