Archaeologists In Croatia Discovered A 2,500-Year-Old Helmet From The Illyrians In A Graveyard, Likely Left Behind As An Offering To The Dead

Aside from the helmets, archaeologists have unearthed other artifacts at the Gomile site, including jewelry, accessories, and costumes.

Since the helmets were buried apart from individual remains, it appears that they were meant as communal gifts rather than an offering for one person. The discovery of the helmets has allowed researchers to gain more insight into Illyrian funeral practices.
