“We’re outside all day [and] during the last 20 minutes of the day, I was going to do it. I opened them up [and] only the first invitation was written on, none of the rest.”
Katie quickly began to realize that her students’ mom didn’t only want her to get the invitations to each student but took the time to assemble and address them.
Confirming her suspicions, Kate checked her email and realized she had one from the mom that had been sent earlier that day, in which the mom clarified that she needed her to address all the invitations herself.
“I responded, ‘I can’t write all these invitations out,’ and I sent [the kid] home with the class list,” says Katie at the end of her video.
“Nope; not what I can do.”
Katie’s video received over 745,000 views and plenty of comments from TikTok users who backed her up.
“What the heck made a parent think that was okay?” commented one TikTok user.
“Why ask for the class list if the parent expected you to be their secretary?” asked another user.
“Was the next thing they expected was [for you] to be their personal assistant and party planner?”
If you’re a teacher and have a collection of wild parent stories, what’s the most ridiculous thing they’ve asked you to do for them?
