I think it’s general knowledge that trying on a bride’s wedding dress before she walks down the aisle is a serious faux pas.

That kind of dress is basically symbolic, and slipping it on can absolutely be viewed as a sign of disrespect.

This 28-year-old woman has a best friend named Ally, who is also 28, and soon, Ally will be getting married.

She’s over the moon for Ally’s upcoming big day, especially since Ally has gone through a slew of horrific relationships.

It seems Ally has finally found the one, and her fiancé is a wonderful man who treats Ally the way she deserves.

Several weeks ago, Ally received her wedding dress, and so she went over to Ally’s place to help her try it on at her request.

But when she arrived at Ally’s apartment, the wedding box was out in plain sight, and Ally demanded that she put the dress on.

“I told her I wasn’t comfortable with that since it was her wedding dress, and I didn’t want anything to happen to it if I tried it on,” she explained.

“She went into their bedroom and came back out with the dress in her hands. I got really excited and told her it was beautiful, going on about how excited I was to see her in it.”

“Ally said that she wanted me to try it on first. I reiterated that I was uncomfortable with doing that because I didn’t want to damage it.”

Ally looked crestfallen as she said she was just curious to see how the dress looked on her. She pressed Ally as to why she felt this way, and Ally mentioned she would most likely never put one on and would look gorgeous.

She realizes this seems like a mean thing to say, but Ally’s words didn’t insult her. She was in a nightmare of a relationship with a controlling man, and after she left him four years ago, she hasn’t gone on to date anyone else.

She has told Ally time and time again that she doesn’t feel marriage should be a requirement in life, but she will consider it if she meets a man who really values it.

But back to Ally’s wedding dress, which Ally relentlessly pushed her to slip into. Ally even literally attempted to force her into the dress by shoving her in the direction of the bathroom to change.

She danced around stepping on Ally’s dress, and so she didn’t realize when Ally caused her to run into the splintered door frame that Ally’s dog chewed up.

She scratched her leg up and began to bleed. She pointed out the blood to Ally and used that to try to get out of putting the dress on.

Ally responded that she had bandaids under the sink and closed the door behind her. She stuck one on and pulled on Ally’s wedding dress. Ally’s dress didn’t even come close to fitting her correctly, which is why she was trying to stall.

“Ally is about 5 to 6 sizes larger than me, depending on the brand,” she said. “Even though her dress is gorgeous, it didn’t look good on me.”

“I said through the bathroom door that it was pretty and that I was going to take it off. Ally opened the door before I could and looked at me. I could tell she was upset, but I didn’t say anything.”

Ally remarked that she should take off the dress before walking right out of the bathroom, so she quickly did.

After she exited the bathroom, she found Ally sitting on her couch, facing away. Ally wouldn’t look in her direction until she passed her the dress.

She invited Ally to go out for lunch, but Ally declined. She then asked if perhaps they could hang out, but Ally still said she wanted to pass.

“I asked if I did anything wrong, and she said no. I know how stressed she’s been with wedding planning, so I figured she wanted to work on that stuff without me,” she continued.

“I went home, and later that evening, I got some texts from her saying: “I’m pretty upset that you lied to me about the dress. You said it looked pretty when it didn’t look good on you.” I responded with: “I do think the dress is pretty even though it doesn’t look good on me. I am sorry for lying – I should have told you it didn’t look good on me.”

“She hasn’t responded, but she did read the text message. What should I do to fix this situation? Right now, I’m letting her cool off, but I’m not sure if I should be doing more.”
