He Wants To Adopt A Child With His Wife, But Their 22-Year-Old Son Is Against It And Thinks The Large Sibling Age Gap Will Be Weird

Because their son still lives with them, he and his wife sat down with him a few days ago to see how he’d feel about having a little brother or sister.

“I told him that he knew his mom always wanted kids, and the only thing that was stopping her from having them was me,” he said.

“I [also] told him that his choice just made us think more about it. Even though we tried to explain, he wasn’t happy. He was worried about the big age difference between him and a new sibling.”

His son was strongly against bringing a baby or little kid into the house, mostly citing how uncomfortable the age gap between him and the baby would be. Then, his son went and told his wife’s sister about the situation, and she backed him up.

“She got mad at me for feeding into my wife’s delusions and brought up the age gap again,” he added.

“Our son says it’ll be weird to have a sibling so much younger than he is. I don’t think the age gap is that big of a deal, but the criticism has made me rethink our decision.”

His wife is also beginning to rethink the idea after she realized they wouldn’t have their son’s support and he hates seeing her spirit dwindle.

Should he and his wife go through with adopting anyway or listen to their son?
