Later, he decided to call his dad about the situation, and the fling with Rebecca was confirmed. His dad also told him that he shouldn’t end a relationship with a “good woman” over a “small thing.”
But he was still furious that his dad never told him the truth about his and Rebecca’s past relationship from the start. And after some more back and forth, he wound up hanging up the phone on his father.
He proceeded to take two weeks to think everything over, and in the end, he realized he just could not be with Rebecca anymore. Every time he looked at her, he just saw his own father, which is why he ended their relationship.
“It was emotional, and I ended up crying. She took her stuff from my place, and we haven’t talked since,” he explained.
Yet, in the wake of this whole ordeal, his siblings are actually angry at him. They believe he shouldn’t have let Rebecca go over her past fling with their dad.
Now, he genuinely doesn’t know if breaking up with Rebecca, who was “practically perfect,” was the wrong thing to do or if he had a right not to want to date one of his dad’s previous partners.
