Upon her arrival in America, Kanya faced several challenges, such as a language barrier. Furthermore, she had webbed fingers and underwent a number of surgeries for them. Despite the difficulties she experienced, she never let them crush her spirit.

According to Guinness World Records, Kanya described herself as outgoing, determined, and fiercely independent.

She made friends quickly and was part of a cheerleading squad until her first year of high school. She booked her first modeling gig in high school as well.

Kanya also participated in various sports. She tried wheelchair racing, wheelchair rugby, swimming, sledge hockey, and more. Then, she discovered skateboarding, which she instantly fell in love with.

Later, she made history in the sport, which led to her being invited to the X Games in 2019 and the Dew Tour in 2022, where she came in second in women’s street adaptive skateboarding.

At the end of the day, Kanya strives to create a community that allows her to connect with and support others. She hopes to inspire all individuals to chase their dreams, no matter how big they seem.
