5 Fun Fall Decor Projects That Are Easy For Anyone To DIY
I know that it’s not even Labor Day yet, but I’m already excited about Fall! It’s my favorite time of year, and honestly, I’m over all of the heat that this summer brought.
If you’re also thrilled about welcoming sweater weather and want to celebrate, why not try making these five fun fall decor projects that are easy to DIY?
These activities are certain to bring about the fall spirit and make your home cuter in the process.
A Mini Pumpkin Display
If you’ve ever wondered what to do with mini pumpkins, this display vase is a clever way to utilize them.
This is definitely the simplest DIY project on our list. All you need are two vases (one large and one small – one will nest inside the other), a bunch of mini pumpkins, some sprigs of fall-themed florals, and a light-up branch, which you can easily order on the internet.
Place your large vase on a table, then put the smaller vase inside. In the space between, add your mini pumpkins.
Next, add your fall-themed florals to the interior vase and a light-up branch!
@ashmariesavage ? Pumpkin Display ? I found these mini pumpkins at publix and had to create a fun display with them using my favorite fall florals and lighted branches. A Bat And Ghost Doormat
Ok, this bat and ghost doormat is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen in my life, and it’s also one of the neatest ways I’ve seen cookie cutters used.
Not only would this be super fun to do if you have kids, but it would also be a great project for a Girls’ Night!
All you need is a blank doormat, white acrylic paint, Halloween or fall-themed cookie cutters, and aerosol primer.
Place your cookie cutters down on the doormat as a stencil, paint the interior, and lift up. When your paint is all dry, make sure to spray it down with a clear coat of aerosol primer.

No-Sew Sherpa Pumpkin Pillow
If sewing isn’t your forte, check out this adorable no-sew Sherpa pumpkin pillow, which screams cozy fall vibes.
You need a large piece of square Sherpa, some polyester fiber fill, a stick from your backyard, a rubber band, some thick rope, and string.
“All you do is lay your fabric out, add your poly fill until it looks full enough, then start wrapping all the sides into the middle,” Morgan explains in her video showing how she makes it.
“Hold all fabric together, add a stick for the stem, and secure the fabric with a rubber band. Next, Take some string and wrap the pumpkin to create the indentations on all sides!”
“Tie a knot around the stem to secure all the indentation wrapping. Lastly, glue some rope around the stick to create a rope stem!”

Dried Floral Pumpkins
White pumpkins are my favorite, but I’ve never seen ones this festive before. These pumpkins have dried flowers painted onto them with biodegradable glue, so they’re compost-safe when you’re done using them as decorations.
You will need white pumpkins, dried flowers, corn syrup, vinegar, cornstarch, and water. This is how you make the glue to paint the dried flowers onto the pumpkins:
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons of corn syrup
- 1 1⁄2 cups of water
- 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon of vinegar
Instructions:
Combine 3/4ths a cup of water, 2 Tablespoons of corn syrup, and 1 teaspoon of vinegar in a saucepan, then bring it up to a boil.
Add in your 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch and the final amount of water and whisk it all together. Bring it back to a boil and cook for one more minute. Take your glue off the oven and let it cool down. You can place it in an airtight container, and it will last for a while if it’s kept in a cool location.
@northwoodsfolk It’s time for a completely compost-safe fall decor DIY! Ghost Pillow
This ghost pillow is probably one of the more labor-intensive DIYs on our list, but your hard work will be worth it!
You need a blank pillowcase, rope to make your ghosts, a piece of black felt for the eyes, Gorilla glue, and scissors. To start, lay out your pillowcase and cut your rope into upside-down “U” shapes to create your ghosts. Lay all your rope across the pillowcase in a pattern and glue it down.
From there, keep cutting pieces of rope and lining the inside of your main piece of rope so it looks like a rainbow (make sure to glue all your pieces to the pillowcase). When you’re done, trim up the ends of all your completed ghosts with your scissors and cut out little eyes with the black felt. Glue the eyes to your ghosts, and you’re done!
