Now that the summer is in full swing, everybody’s bringing out their grills and hitting up the grocery for more hot dogs and hamburgers so they can have a barbecue.
Barbecues are an essential part of the summer for many families and friend groups, and they can be a whole lot of fun.
However, if you and your friends host barbecues often, you may get a little tired of the same kind of meet-up.
Therefore, I’d highly recommend hosting a themed BBQ this summer, as a fun theme and a few personalized decorations, dinner menu, etc., can make for a much more memorable gathering this summer.
If you’re interested in hosting a themed barbecue this summer, here are some theme ideas for you.
A Seaside BBQ
Barbecues are a great excuse to eat hamburgers and hot dogs, but what if you wanted to switch up your cuisine and serve something a little different, like seafood?
A seaside-themed barbecue is a fun way to embrace beachy summer decor, as well as grill up and enjoy some yummy seafood. Have guests wear their favorite beach outfits, make beachy or ocean-inspired cocktails like Piña Coladas or ‘fish bowls‘, and grill up a selection of seafood.
When your guests arrive and see yummy treats like fresh fish and fun decor that screams summer, they’ll want you to host more often.
A Wild West BBQ
There’s something about grilling up some meat and enjoying a meal outdoors with your pals that feels a bit Western and cool, making it the perfect environment for a ‘Wild West’ themed event.
Have your guests wear fun Western accessories like cowboy hats, boots, and bandanas and serve some satisfying “cowboy grub.”
Your menu should certainly include hamburgers and other fun things like ribs, cowboy caviar salad, pimento cheese dip, and, of course, plenty of ice-cold beer.
Throw on a fun country playlist, and you’ll be yeehaw-ing it up with your guests all night.
Move Night BBQ
This is an especially great idea if you have a projector on hand and a good place for projecting a movie, like a garage with a blank wall.
You can invite your guests over for a backyard movie screening and serve some yummy barbecue food for it.
Have your guests dress comfortably, and either have them bring their own blankets and beach chairs to watch the movie or provide some for them.
You can serve whatever kind of BBQ food you’d like or even take things to the next level by serving foods inspired by the movie you’re watching.
Of course, don’t forget to serve popcorn!
A Hawaiian Luau BBQ
Who doesn’t love wearing a cute Hawaiian shirt over the summer? A great backyard BBQ theme is a Hawaiian Luau theme, where you can go above and beyond with your decorations and serve some yummy Hawaiian dishes.
Grab some leis from your local party store, put up some tiki torches, and get ready to grill some pineapple and shrimp and make things like roasted pork, poke bowls, etc.
Again, a backyard BBQ doesn’t have to be boring, and if you put your imagination to the test, you can have an amazing time with a themed party that will make the summer especially fun.
