The finding suggests that the DMN is responsible for the quality of creativity, not the number of creative ideas.
The sample size of the study was rather small, so it may not totally represent the general population. Future research could utilize a larger and more diverse sample size.
Although the study had a few limitations, it was able to provide valuable information about the brain mechanisms of creativity.
A deeper understanding of how creativity works in the brain can lead to the development of new treatments for mental health conditions that affect the DMN, like depression.
“Eventually, the goal would be to understand what happens to the network in such a way that we can potentially drive it toward being more creative,” Shofty said.
