Incredibly Well-Preserved Egyptian Mummies Were Recently Found In The City Of Luxor

According to Mostafa Waziri, the secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the discoveries were made by a team of archaeologists who had been exploring the area since March 2018.

Other archaeological discoveries in Egypt include a gold leaf-covered mummy sealed inside a 4,300-year-old sarcophagus.

The remains were of a man named Hekashepes, and he was among one of the oldest and most complete corpses of a non-royal figure ever found. The sarcophagus was unearthed from a 50-foot shaft at a burial site south of Cairo.

The Egyptian government hopes that these types of archaeological discoveries will attract more tourists to the country.

After the Arab Spring political uprising in 2011, which gave way to violence and the eventual downfall of the Egyptian government, tourism in the country naturally decreased.

Perhaps the historical finds will increase the number of visitors to Egypt, as the allure of mummies extends beyond academic interest and actually captivates the public eye as well.
