The painting was featured in the Marvels of Modern Music sale. Other items at the auction included a live recording of Jimi Hendrix playing guitar with Little Richard at a concert, a signed photo of Janis Joplin, a letter from Jim Morrison, and a piano played by Prince while he was on tour.
Dylan is now 82-years-old and has continued to paint. He often brings images from his time on the road to life.
Not much of his work has ever been displayed, and it’s even rarer for a piece of his to be put up for auction.
Other paintings of his from the 1960s have gone for high prices. Two years ago, an abstract nude sold for $100,000 at Julien’s Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $20,000 to $40,000.
