A Rare White Buffalo Calf Was Born In Yellowstone National Park, Fulfilling A Native American Prophecy And Serving As A Beacon Of Hope

As she left them, the mysterious woman turned into a white buffalo calf and promised to return when times were difficult.

The story of ‘White Buffalo Calf Woman’ or ‘Ptecincala Ska Wakan Winan’ has been fulfilled through the birth of this white calf after such a rough winter last year.

Members of the Lakota have reportedly said that while this birth is exciting and a beacon of hope, it should also serve as a reminder to protect our environment and the beloved buffalo populations of Yellowstone.

A ceremony in late June will be held to celebrate the precious calf’s birth at the Buffalo Field Campaign headquarters in West Yellowstone, and many visitors hope to catch a glimpse of it from now on.
