This Man Was Held Captive In His Neighbor’s Basement For 27 Years

Omran was taken to a medical facility for physical and psychological treatment. When his home was raided, B.A. tried to escape, but the police caught him and arrested him.

According to Algerian media, Omran stated that he was unable to leave or call out for help because he felt as if he were “under some kind of spell.” The kidnapper will be put on trial as soon as possible so justice can be served.

In total, eight people were charged for Omran’s abduction, per the Judicial Council of Algeria. Six of them are detained, and the two others have been allowed to remain free while facing trial.

The secondary suspects were charged with aiding and abetting a crime since they did not inform authorities about where Omran was being held captive.

Of course, Omran’s family is happy to have him back. On social media, his cousin wrote: “Thank God my cousin was found. [He] is in good health after 26 years of disappearance. Awaiting details of the case and investigations.”
