Girls Trips Have The Ability To Make Or Break Your Friendships, So Use These Etiquette Tips To Make Traveling Go Smoothly

Be open-minded when creating an itinerary

After booking your location, flights, and hotels, allow all the girls to speak their minds and chime in regarding your plans. For instance, let everyone look at restaurants to go to and bring potential day or night activities to the table.

While you likely won’t be able to do everything proposed, you don’t want anyone to feel like they didn’t get to do what they wanted on the trip. Try to accommodate all guests if possible and consider alternative plans to suggest if there are certain activities some girls don’t want to do.

Avoid a room battle in a rental home

One of my favorite parts about watching some of the “Real Housewives” shows on TV is watching the women get into petty fights about which rooms they want on their girls’ trip. Anyone who’s been on a less organized girls’ trip has likely been in a room war, where everyone races and fights to get the best room on arrival.

Avoid tension and resentment regarding rooms by making a plan before getting to your rental home. A good system to follow is to number each room, write the numbers on pieces of paper, shuffle the papers in a bucket, and have each girl choose a number from the bucket at random. Whichever number each girl pulls is the room they get.

Take breaks when needed

This is especially important for longer trips that last a week or more. While you may love your girls, being in the same living space as them for a long time may feel emotionally exhausting. And hey, that’s okay! You’re only human; you can love your friends without wanting to be near them 24/7.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or need some space for a moment, take it. Stay home and take a nap during one of the trip activities, step outside to make a call and do some breathing, or go on a little walk around the block.

Again, girls’ trips can be a life-changing experience if you prepare well and know how to be respectful during your trip. If anything goes awry, remember why you wanted to go on a girls’ trip in the first place – to spend time and have fun with your loved ones! Don’t let anything petty get in the way of that, and have fun.
