The older you get, the harder it is to maintain a slim and trim figure. While staying active is an important part of keeping yourself fit, a regular exercise routine is not the only habit you should prioritize. A healthy, balanced diet is also essential to remain in good shape and avoid gaining weight.
TikToker Harrah Brown (@harrahbrown) is 64 years old, and she regularly posts videos that inspire women to take care of their bodies, letting them know that they can look beautiful no matter what age they are. In one of her videos, she’s revealing what she eats every week to stay fit and youthful.
“These are the types of foods I buy each week. I practice the 90/10 rule,” she wrote in the caption of her video. “Ninety percent nutrient-dense foods while eating at home and 10 percent fun foods when going out to eat.”
Her grocery haul includes frozen blueberries, olive oil, almond milk, a bag of pistachios, and a small brick of Gruyère cheese.
Then, she unpacked two fresh salmon fillets and one halibut fillet that she will cook for some protein-filled dinners. Next, there was chicken breast and a half pound of sliced roast beef.
The second bag contained raspberries, a cucumber, romaine lettuce, cilantro, a jar of freshly ground peanut butter, a head of cabbage, limes, and a lemon. She also bought a few cups of Greek yogurt that each had 16 grams of protein.
“You’ll notice I don’t buy any sweets—no cookies, no cakes, no snacks, no ice cream, no processed foods,” she stated.
The combination of her diet and her workout routine is how she has been able to lose her belly fat, making her leaner and stronger. In a comment, she shared that she exercised three times per week and walked a minimum of one mile each day.
The journey to health and wellness should be approached with patience, consistency, and a positive mindset. It just goes to show that whether you’re in your 20s or your 60s, it’s never too late to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
