Makeup Sponges May Have Changed The Cosmetic Game, But Here’s How To Properly Clean These Tools To Prevent Them From Doing More Harm Than Good

After giving the makeup sponge a good massage, let it sit in some warm, sudsy water for a few minutes.

Finally, rinse the sponge under your sink and gently squeeze it to get all the excess makeup out of it. You’ll know you got most of the product out when the water exiting the sponge runs clear.

Give your sponge one last good squeeze, then gently roll it across a clean towel to remove excess moisture. Lay it flat to air dry for a few hours, and you’re done!

You should try to do this at least once a week if you can. This way, your makeup routine will be much more hygienic, and you’ll take better care of your skin.

Some makeup artists recommend getting new sponges every three months or so to stay extra clean.

If it’s been a long time since you’ve cleaned your favorite makeup sponge, go ahead and clean it! I promise you won’t regret it.
