This was news to him. Emma never told him about this plan. Plus, he didn’t understand how it would be feasible for Emma’s parents to live with them. Their apartment only had three rooms. One was used as Emma’s office, one was his office and game room, and the third was their bedroom.
“She told the person on the phone, who I assume is her sister, that she’s going to give my gaming setup to her brother to make room and that I’ll get over it eventually. So, yesterday, I left work early to catch her in the middle of her plans,” he shared.
He walked into the apartment, and Emma and her brother were in the process of putting his computer into a box. Emma was visibly shocked, and her face went pale. When he asked them what they were doing, she claimed she’d been cleaning and that her brother just happened to come over. Then, he turned to Emma’s brother and asked him point-blank if he’d been there to take his computer. Her brother assured him that he wasn’t.
Because he knew they were lying, he went to retrieve the iPad that he and Emma shared. He started searching through the text messages on it, and he found the conversation between Emma and her brother. In the messages, Emma told her brother when to come by the apartment to get his computer, and she asked him not to tell anyone that he had it.
Once he had the proof he needed, he ordered Emma’s brother to leave. He asked Emma what made her think she had the right to give his stuff away. Understandably, he was furious, so he was screaming at her, which made her cry in fear.
Emma packed a bag and left the apartment to stay at her sister’s place. In Emma’s absence, he bought a lock to put on his office door. Later, Emma’s sister sent him a text message and told him he was a jerk for how he treated Emma. Upon reflection, he wondered if he could have gone about the situation differently and used more tact.
