He went to say Happy Birthday to his girlfriend’s friend and went home, leaving his girlfriend at the party. Two hours later, his girlfriend texted him, saying he was a jerk for abandoning her.
“She ended up driving herself home drunk. I waited until the next day to respond because I wasn’t having this conversation through text. I told her that I know she doesn’t have to entertain me, but she invited me to a party where I knew no one,” he shared.
Understandably, he was upset that she barely talked to him the entire night, and when he asked to give her a ride home, she dismissed the idea and decided instead to drive under the influence of alcohol. Sadly, his girlfriend has regularly struggled to drink responsibly, and he’s sick of her reckless behavior.
After thinking it over, he chose to break up with his girlfriend. It was a tough decision, and he’s upset that their relationship ended like this. However, he knew it would be better for both of them in the long run.
While breaking up with her, she admitted that she had issues with alcohol and begged for him to stay with her, assuring him that she would do her best to drink less, but he wasn’t persuaded into giving her another chance.
