When the boyfriend tried to remind Lemon how much he loved her, she told him not to contact her again. He tried to, but she blocked him.
The next day, he tried contacting Lemon on a burner phone, and she reminded him not to contact her.
He told her he wouldn’t leave her alone until she gave him a proper explanation as to why she ended their relationship. Then, she asked him if he’d promise her something.
“Will you promise to never take me out of your heart?” she asked.
“Will you promise [that] when you get married, [you’ll] imagine me in the audience cheering for you with tears because I know the woman in white won’t be me?”
Lemon then asked him to constantly text her and send her updates on his life, even if he’s blocked or she doesn’t answer. The boyfriend was still confused, but Lemon told him she loved him and went silent again.
As time progressed, the boyfriend kept trying to contact Lemon and didn’t hear anything. He mentioned that he saw her best friend sitting on the steps of their school, crying.
After two weeks of no contact, he got a text from Lemon’s phone asking who was texting. He asked if Lemon was texting him, but it turned out to be her mother.
“I’m sorry, this is her mother,” wrote Lemon’s mom. “She passed of CAD two weeks ago. You were the last person she texted. I thought you’d deserve to know.”
Lemon’s mom explained that CAD stood for coronary heart disease and that Lemon died of heart failure.
