She Invited A Couple Out On A Double Date, And Her Friend Suggested A More Expensive Restaurant, But Then Her Friend Seemed Upset That She And Her Husband Split The Check Instead Of Footing The Whole Bill

“My friend then looked at his girlfriend and made a face I can’t describe,” she revealed.

Regardless, she and her husband just paid their own bill; meanwhile, the other couple paid for theirs.

Well, the awkwardness still continued even after the tabs were closed out, because her guy friend started making some strange comments.

First, he made a remark about how he was glad that he didn’t “spend all his money” so he could afford to eat at that restaurant. He also commented on how the restaurant was more expensive than he’d anticipated.

“But his check ended up being more expensive because he was ordering alcoholic drinks, and no one else was drinking,” she reasoned.

Still, her friend’s sour attitude after dinner left her feeling pretty uneasy. And now, she can’t help but wonder if not offering to pay for the other couple’s meal on their double date– even though she invited them out– was really the wrong thing to do or not.

Should she be expected to foot the bill if she invites a couple out on a double date? Wasn’t it her friend who suggested that they visit a more expensive restaurant in the first place? Do you think she should feel bad about not paying? How would you have reacted in this situation?
