Spook Up Your Home Decor With This Budget-Friendly Ghost Pillow DIY That’s Sure To Make Guests “Oo” And “Ah”

A TikTok creator from Toronto named Charlene Wong (@allstylelife) is demonstrating how to DIY your own ghost pillow for under ten dollars. Her video has amassed over 2.8 million views.

The project is fun, affordable, does not require any sewing, and can be done in one afternoon. It also makes the ideal decor item for Halloween, adding a touch of ghoulish charm to your home.

For the materials, all you’ll need is white yarn, fabric glue, a square of black felt, and a blank pillowcase.

You can easily find these supplies at a dollar store or at your local craft store.

First, use a pair of scissors to cut the rope into short pieces. Place each strand in a curved, rainbow-like position all across the pillowcase to form the outlines of ghosts.

Lay the yarn out without gluing them to the pillowcase to get an idea of how many ghosts you will need to fill the space, and so you can perfect their placement.

Each ghost is typically made up of three to four strands of yarn, depending on the size of your pillow.

Cut up some more pieces to arrange along the inner spaces that the outer length of yarn created.

As you work on filling the spaces with yarn, each piece of string should get shorter. For example, the middle piece should be the shortest.

Glue the yarn onto the pillowcase, then trim off any uneven pieces from the ends. Use your finger to brush up the frayed edges to give the ghosts a tasseled look.
