Unfortunately, there aren’t any flights directly from her city in Australia to Texas. It takes her 24 hours to travel to Texas, so obviously, it wouldn’t make sense for her to fly back and forth for several bridal events over the span of a year.
Plus, that would clearly be wildly expensive since just one roundtrip flight for her costs a lot of money as it is.
The cost is why she doesn’t come back to America on a yearly basis, so she can’t afford numerous flights over the next few months just for pre-wedding celebrations that only last one day.
“Even two international trips in one year (the bachelorette party and the wedding) are too much, especially since I’d be expected to pay not only my own costs for the bachelorette party but a portion of my sister’s as well,” she explained.
“I tried to compromise by asking if I could attend everything virtually, but my sister said no.”
She already flew to the United States earlier this year, so she hadn’t been planning to come back until 2025 at the earliest.
But in order to make it to her sister’s wedding, she’s doing her best to save up as much as she can and budget her money wisely.
From her perspective, it seemed like common sense that she couldn’t afford to fly back and forth that many times, and logistically, it wouldn’t even make sense since it takes her 24 hours of travel time one way.
Understandably, this would be a lot of time for her to ask off from work. She is trying to plan so that she has enough money and days set aside to take off work so that she can attend her sister’s wedding next year.
However, her sister is angry with her, as well as some of her other family members.
She still feels like it’s outrageous that her sister would expect her to travel that frequently just so that she could fulfill her bridesmaid obligations.
