“But like I said before, I was really given everything to succeed,” she said. “They are loving parents but disciplined me in that way because they thought it was right.”
“So I’m not sure if I was abused or not, and I think about that sometimes. They have stopped hitting me and apologized for it, but I don’t think I could forgive them. I’m not very close with them, although they always are here for me to open up.”
She did go to college for half of a semester, and she studied computer science. She only went to college after her mom and dad suggested that she should make it happen.
They did not force her to go, however. She ended up dropping out pretty quickly, and she now works part-time in a store.
As for why she doesn’t intend to go back to college ever again in her life, it all comes down to spite. The main reason she’s not doing it is to spite her mom and dad.
“My parents want me to have a big future and be comfortable with life,” she continued. “They know college isn’t required to be successful, but it is the best way to guarantee that.”
“But I don’t know if I can imagine me going through 4 years of college for something I don’t care for. Not only that, I feel like I’m also not attending because I don’t care to see my parents be proud/happy that I’m furthering my career. Like I don’t care to see them cheer me on.”
