In response, he told his brother-in-law that he doesn’t have a lot of vacation days, so he has to use them wisely and usually chooses to visit his parents and his wife’s family over anyone else.
Then, his brother-in-law got angrier, saying he felt like he “‘wasn’t a priority'” and he was upset that no one seemed interested in coming to visit.
After that, he told his brother-in-law that it was his and his sister’s choice to move to such an isolated town, which was difficult and expensive to travel to. Apparently, flying to visit his sister and brother-in-law would be twice the amount he pays for airfare to see his wife’s family in the United States.
He continued and told his brother-in-law that it wasn’t reasonable to demand that people buy expensive plane tickets and then rent a car and drive four hours to their town or drive upwards of 20 hours if they wanted to skip flying altogether. His brother-in-law was furious and said he only cared about himself and was being insensitive.
