She then said that she thought it was strange that this girl thought it was acceptable to ask for shoes she saw someone else wearing in photos, and she was surprised that her mom was fine with giving her shoes away to this girl.
In order to compromise, she came up with the option of allowing the girl to borrow her shoes to wear for the first day of school but then making sure she returned them afterward.
Her mother didn’t like this idea, and while she told her she was sorry for not asking for her permission first to give her shoes to the girl, she said that she was mean and was refusing “to make a child happy.”
When she asked her mother why the girl’s parents didn’t want to just buy the shoes from her, her mother said that because they’re formal shoes that the girl won’t wear often, her parents don’t want to spend the money on them.
Do you think she was right to refuse to give away her prom shoes?
