He Recently Inherited $8 Million After His Dad Passed Away And Quit His Job, But Now His Girlfriend Also Wants Him To Use The Funds To Cover Her Monthly Expenses

Since getting the lofty inheritance, he has set out to follow the 4% rule– which essentially states that individuals should only withdraw 4% of their retirement savings each year in order to ensure that the cash lasts.

But, in his father’s will, he was also instructed to donate 2.5% of his wealth to the poor each year.

“And I did not do much for my father when he was alive, and I think this is the best way I can pay back,” he reasoned.

So, after donating 2.5% of the money to charity, the remaining 1.5% comes out to approximately $120,000. And this is enough to cover all of his expenses.

Still, it’s just not enough to take on his girlfriend’s bills, too.

That’s why he just wound up telling her that she is not entitled to his inheritance.

This started an argument between them, though, and his girlfriend ultimately accused him of being selfish.

So now, he’s been left wondering whether refusing to use his inheritance to cover his girlfriend’s expenses actually makes him a jerk or not.

Do you think it’s smart that he is limiting his inheritance withdrawals every year? Why do you think his girlfriend feels entitled to the cash? How can he handle this situation without ruining their relationship?
