As you can probably imagine, Sam was in total shock, too. She could not believe that he, first, did that and, second, didn’t tell her about it.
“And throughout the past year, I had lied to her multiple times and told her I’ve never cheated,” he recalled.
To his surprise, though, his admittance was not the end of his and Sam’s relationship. Instead, his girlfriend is actually willing to give him a second chance as long as he can name a few good reasons for her to continue dating him.
“Looking ahead, I know that I will never cheat again. I want to spend forever with her, and after doing what I’ve done, I can promise myself I’ll never cheat again,” he said.
So now, he wants to give Sam a concrete list of steps that he plans to take in order to move forward, grow, and be more honest. But he’s not sure what he can really do to rebuild all of the trust that he has already broken.
How would you feel if your partner lied about how your relationship really started? Do you think you’d give them a second chance? What can he do to win back Sam’s trust?
