At the very same time, Joshua also happened to push another kid to the ground.
That’s why he finally stated his mind and told the boy’s mom that that kind of behavior was unacceptable.
“And she needs to step up, and if I keep hearing stories about Joshua hitting other kids, then she and I are going to have a problem,” he explained.
After that, the little boy’s mom just grabbed Joshua and left. There was also an awkward vibe at the open house for a little while.
However, as the night continued on, various parents did approach him and thanked him for speaking up– because, apparently, they had also complained to the school about Joshua, and nothing had changed.
Still, by the time he and his wife got to their car later on, she was really upset with him– accusing him of acting like a total jerk.
“Maybe so, but I believe what I said needed to be said,” he vented.
Regardless, with his wife so angry with him, he’s now wondering whether scolding Joshua’s mom at parent-teacher night was the wrong way to handle the situation.
Do you think he did the right thing by approaching Joshua’s mom? If other parents thanked him, then isn’t it clear that Joshua is a known bully? How would you have handled this situation?
