Then, loved ones of the deceased would place their head between their legs and place a coin in their mouth, believing that it was a surefire way to remove any vampire curses.
Archaeologists who uncovered the grave discovered that one of the coins placed in one of the bodies’ mouths dated back to 1846, which made sense regarding the vampire lore, as many of these burial traditions occurred in Poland in the 19th century.
This is not the first time a skeleton has been found buried in accordance with these anti-vampire traditions in Poland; for all we know, it may not be the last time.
