Now, he admitted that most of his girlfriend’s furnishings and other home decor are fine. The apartment itself is also pretty sleek and modern since it is in a nice high-rise.
Nonetheless, he thinks that the random decor items– such as the insects, cartoons, and strange ocean creatures– are simply off-putting.
That’s why he tends to avoid bringing people over his girlfriend’s place, especially his coworkers since he thinks it just looks juvenile.
“Everyone is impressed when they see the high rise, but that quickly fades once you enter,” he said.
One time, he even brought a coworker over, and they wound up telling him afterward that they had found his girlfriend’s insect wall horrifying.
And he believes that since he works in finance, maintaining appearances and making good first impressions are everything.
However, at work, his office often schedules casual gatherings for the team to get together for some food and drinks. And who hosts these gatherings rotates throughout the office.
So, he recently learned it was his turn to host the gathering, and there was a massive problem. His place is currently under construction, meaning that he cannot have anyone over there right now.
And since he has been staying with his girlfriend due to that, that leaves her place as the only hosting option.
His girlfriend apparently did not have a problem with that, either, and actually suggested that they just host his coworkers there since she has ample space and honestly thought it would be fun.
But he wound up telling his girlfriend that he just planned to skip his rotation and see if the next person in line would be open to hosting early.
