She Was The First Recorded Woman To Ever Vote In Colonial America

Before she died, Lydia voted in two more town meetings in Massachusetts.
Lydia passed away in the town of Uxbridge during the American Revolution on November 9, 1778. She was 66-years-old.

Although she was allowed to vote because of her late husband’s status, Lydia’s story was just the beginning of women’s suffrage. It took over a hundred more years for women to be granted the right to vote, making Lydia indeed a woman ahead of her time.
