She Had A Scary Experience In A Hotel While Traveling All By Herself
TikToker Lyndsey (@lyndsey_windham) is warning all the ladies out there to always be on guard while traveling alone and never to skip a step in their security measures when staying in a hotel.
She’s opening up on TikTok about a scary experience she had when a man entered her room while she was in the shower.
The other night, she checked into a hotel room in Dallas, Texas. When she got to her room, she took every precaution possible.
She did a sweep of the room, checking for any cameras planted in the crevices and making sure no one was hiding in the closet, the shower, or behind the curtains.
Everything looked good, and no alarms were raised. When she went to bed, she double-bolted the door just to be safe. All was well, and she had a great night’s sleep.
At 6 AM, she headed down to the lobby and grabbed a quick breakfast to bring back up to her room. Then, she hopped into the shower to get ready for the day.
Here’s where she made a vital mistake. Thinking back, Lyndsey believes she did not deadbolt the door after returning to the room with her breakfast.
While she was in the shower, she heard the hotel phone ringing. Her first thought was that it was strange someone would be calling her so early in the morning.
She jumped out of the shower, but the phone had stopped ringing by then. She reasoned with herself that the ringing phone was probably just her neighbor’s wake-up call.
So she continued on with her morning routine. Suddenly, she heard a very faint knock and the sound of a door opening and closing. Again, Lyndsey tried to convince herself that the noises were all from the next room, not hers.
But her gut was telling her otherwise, and she had the feeling someone was in her room. Since she was in the shower, she didn’t have her phone or clothes with her. All she had was a towel.
She opened the bathroom door, hoping to see housekeeping, but instead, a man standing in the middle of her hotel room.
The man wasn’t wearing a uniform, a name tag, or anything that indicated he worked at the hotel. Once she saw him, Lyndsey screamed at the top of her lungs and demanded he leave.
The man jumped and said that she had scared him. He told her that he was part of the hotel’s maintenance crew and that there was a leak in her room.
Lyndsey screamed again and repeated for him to get out. The man did end up leaving immediately. The hotel also confirmed that there really was some sort of leak, and the man did work in maintenance, but he was new to the job.
Still, the experience was beyond scary for her because she was caught at a time when she was super vulnerable and didn’t have anything nearby to defend herself with.
Even though she might not have been in any danger this time around, the situation could’ve turned out much differently.
So the moral of the story here is to never forgo that extra lock on your door. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
