Her Stepsister Kept Forgetting To Turn The Stove Off After Cooking And Nearly Burned Their Apartment Down Twice, So She Put Child-Proof Locks On The Stove So Her Stepsister Can No Longer Use It

This forced her to start putting sticky notes all over the kitchen in an effort to remind her stepsister.

But eventually, Nicole started getting really frustrated by the constant reminders, and she got accused of treating her stepsister like a child.

At that point, she apologized for coming off that way but reiterated how important it was for Nicole to remember to turn everything off.

Still, in spite of this conversation, the same problem just kept happening. Then, they almost experienced a second house fire after Nicole left the stove on, started blasting music through her Airpods, and did not hear the smoke alarm going off.

So, she tried to have one last discussion with Nicole– telling her stepsister that her dangerous kitchen habits needed to stop.

This still did not get through to her stepsister, though, and Nicole just got angry at her again.

“Before I could even suggest anything, she told me to get off her case,” she recalled.

“Nicole said I’m overreacting and that she ‘can handle it.'”

Her stepsister also refused to listen to any of her suggestions and just kept talking over her. And honestly, that only made her more anxious about what would happen while she was out and Nicole was at home.

So, she decided to go one step further and purchase some plastic child locks for the stove.

She knew that Nicole was unable to open any child-proofed items. So, once she put the locks on the stove knobs, she felt better knowing that Nicole would not be able to use the appliances and risk burning the house down when she wasn’t home.
