And honestly, he found that really strange and decided to put a stop to it. He flat-out told his wife “no” before pointing out that she was an adult, not a princess.
“I’ll make you one, but you’re an adult,” he added.
After he said that, his wife apparently started laughing nervously. Then, she just said, “Okay, never mind.”
His daughter wound up hearing the whole interaction, though, and decided to chime in, also– saying, “Dad, mom is a princess, too.”
At that point, he decided to just nod along in agreement with his daughter– because he didn’t want to explain the whole situation to her.
While he thought he was in the right at the time, though, he later realized that his wife then went to change out of her princess clothes and back into “adult” clothes.
So now, he has been left wondering whether telling his wife that she is not a princess was a jerky thing to do or not.
Is it one thing to play pretend with a child, but another thing to let it infiltrate your day-to-day life? Why do you think his wife keeps pretending to be a princess outside of playtime? If it really makes him uncomfortable, what can he do about this situation?
