His fiancée simply sighed back and said that was not what she meant. As soon as she said that, one of the employees at the cake shop approached them, and they had to stop arguing in public.
On their drive home, he and his fiancée didn’t speak at all, and he then wound up dropping her off with one of her friends.
Then, over the weekend, he and his dad grabbed drinks together. Now, his dad got married to his mom after they found out his mom was pregnant with him.
His parents split up when he was 9-years-old, and in hindsight, his childhood was spent with his mom and dad arguing nonstop.
After the divorce, his mom and dad turned into far “better parents” to him, and they weren’t capable of that when they were married.
His dad is now remarried, and his dad and stepmom are totally different than how his dad was with his mom.
He also has stepsiblings who are currently the age he was when his parents were arguing all the time.
His dad and his stepmom are truly in love with one another, and they act like the best of friends, not the worst of enemies.
“He told me not to make the same mistake that he did,” he said. “If we’re not happy and just getting married because of the baby, do not do it.”
“Focus on being friends and great parents rather than at each other’s throats and stressed parents. I’ve been thinking about this for the past few days, and he’s right.”
He knows that he needs to call the wedding off before it happens in a month, as it’s not right for him to just go through the motions.
