Unfortunately, though, his daughter straight-up just refused to go.
“She did this very rudely, I might add, and called my fiancée some unsavory names via text,” he said.
Plus, once his fiancée found out about this, she was really upset. He claims that his fiancée was “in tears for days”– especially because the thought of their baby having no relationship with his daughter made her feel sick. In fact, his fiancée was apparently lying on the couch and shaking for hours.
So, his fiancée even attempted to text his daughter– after he provided his daughter’s phone number– and repeatedly begged her to come. His daughter just was not interested, though, and ultimately blocked his fiancée.
Anyway, all of this apparently made him really worried about his soon-to-be wife, and he was dedicated to convincing his daughter to attend the baby shower. So, he decided to break out some extremely sentimental jewelry and use it as a bribe.
Apparently, the jewelry once belonged to his late wife– his daughter’s biological mother– who passed away several years ago. And he claims that his daughter had no clue he had any of his late wife’s jewelry.
“And it includes my daughter’s mother’s engagement ring, which I had told my daughter was lost,” he revealed.
So, he thought it would be a good idea to use the sentimental belongings as a bargaining chip. In other words, he texted his daughter and told her that if she agreed to attend the baby shower “without pulling any stunts or theatrics,” then he would hand over all the jewelry.
Understandably, though, his daughter’s wife did not take his proposition kindly. Instead, he got a call from his daughter-in-law, who accused him of “holding the jewelry hostage” and trying to bribe his daughter.
On top of that, his daughter-in-law pointed out how the jewelry should not be in his possession, given the way he “treated his dead wife’s memory.”
Then, he was asked if he would be willing to hand over the jewelry to his daughter regardless as “a gesture of goodwill.”
