She Got Job Rejection Letter From A Company, And We Can Only Describe It As Absolutely Ridiculous
We’ve all been there. You need a job, so you go onto LinkedIn or Indeed and click “Apply Now” in hopes of landing something in the near future.
But with this process comes a series of rejections from jobs that just don’t think you’re a good fit.
Usually, there’s a professional email or courteous phone call thanking you for your application but politely denying you.
What happens, though, when you receive a rejection email from the company that pokes fun at the fact that they’ve decided not to hire you?
TikTok creator Tamsyn Fox, @pur_purblock, explains that this is exactly what happened to them recently.
“This is a dramatic reading of the worst job rejection I’ve ever received,” they said.
Tamsyn showed a screenshot of the email in a recent TikTok video which immediately is rather brash and aggressive.
“Hello, Tamsyn,” they read from the email. “We’ll cut to the chase: your application wasn’t successful.”
But the potential employers didn’t just stop there by thanking them for applying and wishing them good luck in the future.
The email gets so much worse and significantly more snarky– so much so that you may wonder if the person writing the email was on something.
“And who knows, maybe we’ve made a big mistake?” the email continued on. “Albert Einstein couldn’t land a job as a maths tutor for kids, and Spielberg got rejected from film school. Crazy, right!”
The employers continue to insinuate that Tamsyn is a failure but that failing is a part of life, so not to stress too much about it.
“Every great success story begins with little failure,” the company wrote. “We’ve had our fair share of failure too.”
The company’s reaction to Tamsyn’s job application is disproportionately harsh and extremely confusing. It certainly shows in the email’s closing response.
“Even though you won’t be joining us just yet, who knows what the future holds?” they wrote. “Perhaps you’ll prove us wrong (we certainly hope so).”
If that entire email wasn’t weird enough, the sign-off that the company chose to use absolutely seals the deal. Before their signature, they wrote, “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”
How anyone could take that email seriously is unfathomable. Tamsyn certainly felt as though the company was making fun of them and talking down to them.
Their caption to the video read, “thanks for patronizing me into a rage that can only be described as ‘firey.’”
Tamsyn’s commenters agreed that the company was absolutely ridiculous.
“I think I’d prefer just no answer oh my god,” one person commented.
Another viewer wrote, “this is more patronizing than an email I got from a coffee shop company that basically said, ‘it’s the 6-month anniversary of us rejecting you.'”
In the end, it’s probably a good thing that Tamsyn was rejected by a company like this. With an email like that, who knows what the job would have been like!
@taz_fox thanks for patronising me into a rage that can only be desrcibed as ‘firey’
