When this twenty-six-year-old woman was just five years old, her parents got married. And being that she was a little girl at the time, she was the flower girl during the ceremony.
By the time she turned ten, though, her parents had actually gotten divorced. And according to her, absolutely no one saw that coming because her mom and dad literally never fought.
“I feel like I have to mention that my parents are both very wealthy and kept finances separate. So, it was an easy divorce, and they absolutely could pay for it,” she noted.
Anyway, seven more years passed, and her parents remained separated. Then, when she was seventeen, they randomly decided to get back together again.
She also claims that since she was a teen for her parent’s second wedding, she was absolutely overjoyed.
I mean, talk about a Parent Trap moment, right? Plus, she even got to be a bridesmaid at the second wedding!
It did not take long for this second marriage to also come crashing down, though, and her mom and dad ended up separating again.
This time, though, they actually opted not to tell anyone and did not go through with a formal divorce.
“But we all knew they were separated,” she pointed out.
Her parents apparently just could not stay away from each other, though– because three years later, her mom and dad decided that they wanted to renew their vows.
So, she was a part of the ceremony for the third time and had to buy an all-new nice dress for the occasion.
But, if you could not have guessed where this story was going, it ended in her parents splitting up for one more time!
“Surprise! They got divorced! Again! And only after three months after their renewal,” she revealed. Yikes!
So, following that third separation, she just tried to live her life on her own– because honestly, she really was not thrilled about whatever her parents were doing in their relationship.
Moreover, she was really just over the constant back and forth.
It appears that as hard as she tries, though, she just cannot escape her parents’ on-and-off marriage.
In fact, just a few days ago, she received an invitation to– you guessed it– her parent’s fourth wedding after six years of separation!
So, she immediately decided to call her mom and find out what the heck was going on. Her mom apparently could not have been more excited, though, and informed her that she was now old enough to be the maid of honor.
Moreover, her mom dropped one more massive bomb– she was expected to buy a fifteen hundred dollar dress for the occasion!
That nearly made steam come out of her ears, and she told her mom hell no. Don’t get me wrong: she did accept the invitation to be the maid of honor in the ceremony.
But, she pointed out how she could just wear the original cream bridesmaid dress from their second wedding or the other nice brown dress she bought for their vow renewal.
For whatever reason, though, her mom reportedly freaked out on her. First, she was told those dresses would not match the color scheme of the wedding– which would be pink and green. Then, her mom claimed to know that she could afford the new gown.
Now, she honestly could afford to buy that new dress– because after her grandfather passed away, she received a generous inheritance.
However, she has also started her own life since then. She is currently engaged and living with her fiancé in a small apartment, where they currently split all expenses fifty-fifty.
Aside from the expenses, she also hopes to have a large family– with between five and seven children– and kids are super expensive.
So, all of the extra money she has is placed in savings accounts and college funds for her future children.
Her mom also knew about this entire arrangement, too, so she took that opportunity to remind her mom that she was not exactly swimming in dough.
She also kind of made a dig at her mom and pointed out how she would only wear this dress once before having to buy another brand-new one in three to six years.
Her mom still just did not understand her perspective, though, and actually had the nerve to call her a spoiled brat.
Then, she got accused of “wasting her privilege” and refusing to be a part of her own parents’ wedding.
“And I told her that I was going to be willing to show up to the wedding and not be the maid of honor, but at this point, I am not showing up at all,” she explained. Then, she actually told her mom to call her after the next divorce before hanging up the phone!
So, ever since then, she has been receiving a bunch of nasty emails from a ton of different family members. Plus, after confiding with some friends about the situation, she has received mixed responses about her decision– primarily because her mom and dad are her parents, after all.
That means that now, she has been left feeling really frustrated and is wondering whether not going to her parents’ fourth wedding will actually make her a jerk or not.
Can you imagine watching your parents get married and separated four times over? Does she have a right to be opposed to buying such an expensive dress due to her mom and dad’s track record? Even so, should she have told her mom that she would not be attending the wedding at all anymore? If not, what would you have done had you been in her shoes?
