“I didn’t even see myself playing college soccer when I graduated high school,” she revealed.
Nonetheless, a few of her friends began playing for her college– the University of Texas Tyler Patriots– so she decided to join. And after spending her entire four-year college experience training and competing, Britanny’s love for the sport was ultimately reignited.
So, come May 15, 2017, she signed a pro contract and headed off to Iceland. Her university even tweeted photos from her contract signing, where Patrick and her family stood by her side.
Britanny also shared her own excitement in a post, tweeting: “Just when I thought I was gonna be tan again, I sign a contract to go play pro soccer in Iceland all summer! No better way to spend it.”
Now, Brittany’s life has obviously changed a lot since 2017. Most notably, she gained a new last name after tying the knot and welcomed two adorable children with Patrick– Sterling Skye Holmes and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Holmes III.
Even though she is not playing professional soccer anymore, though, she has not given up her dedication to the sport. In fact, Britanny actually founded her own fitness company– Brittany Lynne Fitness– that offers fitness merchandise and training programs all designed by herself.
On top of that, she is also the co-owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL soccer team, where she remains heavily involved in women’s soccer.
Most recently, in June, she and Patrick revealed that they were working on a seventy-million-dollar project meant to build the team a new stadium– a groundbreaking effort for a women’s team.
So, if you were in need of any more incentive to love the high school sweethearts turned happily married parents, just know they are also a match made in heaven in terms of athleticism. And now, the powerhouse couple is taking on impactful community projects together– one stadium at a time.
